An ocean in the wintertime is a beautiful thing. At least in Ether's opinion.
Although, to be fair, Ether probably would have found anything to be beautiful on this day: she was in a giddy mood, fairly bursting with energy. She had been wandering for nearly a year now and had not yet tired of the freedom it offered. Oh, the things she had seen! The spirits had helped, of course: they warned her of nearby predators and guided her hooves to the most beautiful parts of the land.
Something was still missing in Ether's life though: a child. The biological urges her body sent her had become shockingly powerful. When she closed her eyes she could practically see the face of her future child, a light buckskin with dark eyes...perhaps a colt? Or a filly. But Ether had a feeling that the first of her offspring would be male.
Suddenly, a voice in her ear: You are in the right place, friend. Keep walking.
Ether smiled; such ghostly voices were commonplace and certainly welcome. "That I shall", she murmured, breaking into a trot on the blustery shore. Surf broke to her right, and all around her was the smell of the sea and the sturdy earth.
And within that scent, snaking through the pervasive odor of peat and saltwater, was another scent: that of a stallion.

One a dragon that spotted a mare. The other that patrolled the borders and was sent a telepathic image of the beautiful cremello. Instantly Sanslay's curiosity sparked his manly instincts and he puffed up his chest and flexed his muscles and ran off in the direction the signs were coming from.
Meanwhile Emarde flew over head of the trotting mare, while speaking telepathically to Sanslay, 'She's a purty one!'. Emarde was being sarcastic, for he knew he was not into equines he wanted a dragon lady, but Sanslay didn't appreciate it too much. "Watch it... Goof ball!" they were an odd couple for sure but one could not say they were in love.
Emarde had only spoken to one person so far and that was Sakura. The special mare that the serpent had taken likings to. There was something about this mare though that Emarde wasn't fond of. Maybe it was her charmingly good looks. Or the fact that she was walking on Sanslay's land. Sanslay didn't mind tresspassers if they were being respectful to his land but on the other hand Emarde wasn't fond of trespassers period. So there's some conflict in that conversation.
The dragons wings curved down and gained speed. Sidling up next to Ether. Flying by her trotting body as he leveled out his wings and flew straight again. Although he tilted his wings up a bit so he could slow to her pace. He made an odd chirping noise that continued in a repeated pattern. That didn't end. 'Hurry Sanslay!' the dragon said enthusiastically. He couldn't wait for his bonded to arrive on scene. It'd been a few days since their last encounter with a newer person. "I'm coming. Cool it."
The chirpping continued as Sanslay arrived on scene. Thundering hooves running softly across the sand. The lighter you ran on sand the faster you went. Typical knowings of Sanslay's mind. Sanslay let out a greeting call, something similar to a chuckled neigh, but quickly loosing speed as he came closer to the two. Emarde still chirping and flying beside the mare. She was closed in now. By a fire breather and a horned stallion.
Sanslay came to a complete stop. Sliding his hooves in the sand and locking his knees. Sand flew all around and the grains became hot underneath his hooves from the friction and the tiny grains that jumped up and bit at his belly stung. His white, pride-filled, eyes studied her. Waiting for her to stop too. She was atleast 15 feet away by now and Sanslay was comfortable with speaking. Without having to repeat himself over the crashing waves. "Welcome, tresspasser, to the Horax Shores." tresspasser was a mere name, as he didn't know her name, and there was no weight added to the calling.
Emardes chirpping ended and the dragon increased his speed again. This time going up into the sky. Up and then leveling out again. Ending with a circled landing technique. The dragon landed on the dun stallion. His tallons grabbing at the hide of the unicorn. Gently though for Emarde was against ripping open his 'father's' skin or making even the tiniest scratch that shed blood. He crawled from the muscular quarter horses withers to his hind quarters and sat down like a dog. Tail flicking back and forth, rubbing Sanslay's skin irritably, waiting for the mare to answer.
'Friend or Foe?' Emarde asked gently. Emarde wasn't against burning anything to a crisp. "Friend until proven otherwise."

It was almost god-like, the way Sanslay came charging into her line of sight and along the beach. He seemed larger than life even at a distance, a glittering beacon of masculinity. Ether nickered, though she doubted he could here her over the pounding of the surf.
So enthralled was she by the stallion, she almost looked right through his companion: a dragon! Ether had never seen a dragon before, in physical or spirit form, but she had heard many tales of their wisdom and might.
Thank you for guiding my feet, spirits. Thank you for helping me find this beautiful place, this splendid stallion with his dragon.
She watched with awe as the great buckskin slid to a gritty stop on the beach, and came to her own gentler halt in the shallows of the frigid ocean. He spoke, called her 'trespasser'. Ether wasn't alarmed by this; she sensed no malice, threat or anger in his voice. And after all, she was technically a trespasser on this beach.
She listened to his words, then replied over the rush of the waves:
"Horax Shores, is it? Nice to know the name of such a beautiful place. My name is Ether, and hopefully we shall soon know each other well enough that I am no longer the Trespasser."

The dragon continued to sit upon his perch staring down the female ahead of them. "Stop moving your tail! Your turning my hide on fire. Ha" Sanslay spoke in a genuine sarcastic tone to his dragon. Emarde took a claw and dug it around on the dun's hide, carefully, before stopping his wagging tail. He returned the nicker to the mare from early before he began to reply to her.
"Ether?" he said trying out her name on his tounge. "I'm Sanslay the leader of this fair land. It'd be nice of you to not be a tresspasser anymore." the unicorns body language gave off signs of humor. But the stallion was rather impressed by the mare. "I can offer you a home here if you'd like?" Emarde flicked his head and then spread his wings into a defensive flare. 'So quickly! No! No more share! They take my crystal rocks!' the dragon became somewhat offended by Sanslay and made a high pitch screetch. Emarde was still young and such acts of sharing were hard. "Yes you'll share now hush!" immediately the screetch stopped as the serpent obeyed his bonded.
"Excuse him please." Sanslay said while he half chuckled, trying to reassure the mare he was of no harm, Emarde was gentle. Just never against burning a tresspasser to a crisp if he had to. "Yeah, excuuuuse me."
|
the dragon said half heartedly. Almost as if he wanted the mare to know he was annoyed, but with more kindness from the mare Emarde would be crawling all around her legs purring like a happy cat. The reptile's mind was easily changed if someone was truly worth love, or if they were kind. [ooc- OMGSH! I would've replied sooner but I forgot about this post! Terribly sorry Note* "Speak"=Sanslay talk | "Speak"=Emarde talk | 'Speak'=Emarde speaking telepathically | "Speak"=Sanslay speaking telepathically ((When they speak telepathically its only to each other.))] [/blockquote]

Oh, he really IS handsome!
Ether couldn't help but be a little dazzled by the proximity of the male; he was obviously in great condition and of high breeding. He was a King who looked like a King, simple as that.
She smiled as he spoke to her, but her smile quickly faltered; not because she was no longer happy - quite the opposite! - but because she was so shocked by how quickly the offer of acceptance came. She had thought that she would maybe have to prove herself, or name her family members, perhaps demonstrate her power. But no! She had done naught but say a few friendly words and he would take her in. What a gentleman!
"I - I would be honored to stay in your beautiful home, Sanslay." His name felt nice on her tongue. The dragon screeched abruptly and she flinched, but then relaxed, seeing that he would not harm her. "You are excused, young dragon." she said, "And might I say you are quite impressive. Sanslay here is lucky to have you for a familiar."

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=cellSpacing,0,true][atrb=cellPadding,0,true][atrb=width,500,true] | [atrb=background,http://i42.tinypic.com/2378de.png,true] Believe it or not the serpent was feeling a bit warm hearing such simple words from the mare. She seemed brave to only flench for such a short moment of time. 'She seems worthy enough...' he trailed off in his mind quietly. "Everyone's worthy until proven to be nothing of the such." the young dragon simply rolled his orange eyes and jumped down from his perch on the dun stallions hind quarters. Landing in the sand with a thud. A gentle rumble gave from the quarter horse, it was a sign of respect and love, to the great reptile. Emarde was something special. "Quite lucky!" the young thing jumped vocals kindly. His mood for the mare changed quickly and Sanslay relaxed.
"Great to know he's responding to you so well." he said giving a toss of his buttermilk neck, letting the dark brown tendrals of his hair flick with a sound to his flesh. "Around here you might find some crystals in the sand, big and little, might want to watch out for those. Emarde likes to heat up the sand and change it to glass. It comes in handy at times but sometimes it can become a nuisance. Trip up on one of them and your tumblin' hard." he said sarcastically. Although to be fair tripping up on one of them could definantly screw up your pace and possibly give you a temporary limp.
"I actually have some business to take care of today but your free to do as you wish. No chains binding you here, if you wish go ahead and explore elsewhere." he paused for a second and took in a breath, lifted his head, and exhaled gently. "I have but one rule, that is a bit of common sense, you respect my kingship, I'll respect you and treat you as you treat me. And... You respect the land you live and walk on, this land will offer you protection as well as myself." then he smiled and dipped his head respectfully.
Turned gently, careful to keep his hooves away from Emarde's paws, then took to a graceful trot down the beach. He only hoped he wouldn't regret what he'd just done. The dragon lifted his head, looked to the mare, "Have a nice day!"
|
he said happily. Jumping over to her, leaning in to nudge his scales on her knees, then turning around to crawl awkwardly to his trotting bonded. [ooc- you shall never (hopefully) have to wait that long for a reply.. especially one that sucked as much as that! anyways you can read here for my reasoning ] [/blockquote]
