Name: Anvidr Age: 5 Breed: Mixed (Andalusion x Azteca x PROFIT) Gender: Mare Region: Osiris (She will be sad about the lack of oceans.)
Appearance: Anvidr is 15hh, and has the baroque body type. Her neck is arched, and her build round and strong. Some feathering above her hooves suggest fresian in her blood somewhere, or some draft- she doesn't know, and she doesn't care.. The shape of her head is slightly convex, with large grey eyes and a long, generally uncontrolled mane and tail. Her color is Grulla, though it is informed by colors not found in the natural horse kingdom. The base tone is slate gray, but there are cool undertones to it, almost blue-ish in nature. Where one might expect to find the warmth of seal-brown influence, that base undertone becomes more visible: it is, in fact, stormy blue and green, desaturated to the point of being almost, almost grey. Primitive markings cover this washed canvas of coat: dark blue-black socks, which climb into barring. Cobwebbing is barely visible on the face, and her muzzle is dark. Her mane and tail are black, but touched here and there with storm-blue guardhairs. Two shoulder-stripes run like paint down from the base of her mane, and fade neatly to a dorsal stripe that leads down her tail. Anvidr usually has sea-weed caught and sometimes intentionally woven into her mane and tail: a mark of homage to the spirit of nature for whom she feels the strongest calling.
Personality: In her youth, Anvidr's mother once remarked that she had a fire in her. The older mare was wrong, and Anvidr knew it. There is a fury in her, a fierceness and a tenacity-- but it is not that of fire. Fire is too fast, it strikes and it burns itself out in days. No, that doesn't fit- Anvidr's is the rage of storm and the seas. Quick, vicious, but with more lasting strength. In ire, the seas can drown you, can dash your body against rocks, can break you- but they have time behind them too. Undertow may pull you down seductively, catch you until it's too late for you to react. The seas themselves will whittle rocks away over time: even that most steadfast of elements cannot hold to the constant beating of water crashing against it. That is the power that fuels Anvidr, and she will proudly claim this.
While her loyalty runs deep, the seas will always have Anvidr's most powerful devotion. Water of all kinds will do it, but it's the ocean where it is strongest. It is nothing so formalized as a religion, but Anvidr respects the power of storm and oceans, and makes that known. She wears her water-plants as homage to it's strength and lasting capabilities, and she sees storms as good omens and things from which to draw strength.
Brief Fierce. Strong. Severe. Harsh. Spiritual. NAtural. Adores nature, admires it. Loves the thrill of storms and harsh weather. Admires the ocean, adores it-- uses it as a symbol for herself somewhat, hense occasionally picking up things from beaches and taking them home/putting them on her person (in the case of seagrasses, which can drape over her back). Somewhat vain, but more concerned with how people see her personality then her physically. Likes to be seen as beautiful, but will cultivate more attention on people knowing who she is. Somewhat unfriendly. Blunt, callous. Loyal to the end, if you win her over. Stubborn. Strong-minded. Fueled by an inner-fire. Rash, but not entirely unwise-- will seek to rush forward and take care of problems immediately, but won't rush in if it's a stupid plan to do so. Subtly distracted, "stormy" personality: like there's a tempest raging on behind her eyes. Quick-minded. Quick to anger, quick to forgive- but does hold grudges, somewhat privately. Brave. Near fearless. Survivalist. The strong survive. Defensive, protective. Slightly obsessive. Slightly crazy. Will define things according to nature: something bad happened, it was because nature willed it. Euphoric at life. Vital- full of life. Not gentle, but sometimes warm: in the same way a campfire will keep you warm, she will look out for her own, and be less.. mean? to her own. Malicious when someone is her enemy. Serious. Impatient. Can be cruel. Not subtle, lacks the patience for manipulation. headstrong. Will demand strong mates: any male who is strong enough is welcome. Not particularly likely to settle down. Would be a better military leader then a regular one. Respect is her motivator: wants to be respected, wants to respect people in order to call them her superiors.
Power: Anvidr can survive underwater. :3 No gills or anything
History: Anvidr's birth was something that heralded what she'd be like in later life. A hard birth, she almost killed her mother- worse, because she was born during the rage of a storm. Her name is drawn from that: it's meaning is unknown to her, but the name is harsh on the tongue, to reflect the harshness with which she first greeted the world. By some grace, the mare and her young daughter survived- and from that point onward, Anvidr was a handful, had to control and harder to keep calm.
At two, the headstrong mare was in the full height of hormonal development, and decided to strike out on her own. It was a fateful decision. Seeking new lands, she embarked across the water, seeking places she'd never seen. It was her luck that a storm should rise while she was swimming: a storm that kicked up the waves and tossed her around like a rag-doll.
She should've died. Her lungs should've filled with water, the undertow should have dragged her under, and she should've broken against jagged rocks. But she didn't. Rather, she emerged two days later- thirsty, starving, dripping wet, exhausted, and very much alive.
The rocks thing was a narrow miss-- more luck than anything else. The drowning, though? That was the mark of her power. She could survive beneath the waves. She had given up at one point, stopped fighting, let the current pull her under-- and when she'd opened her eyes, she'd found her breath unimpeded, the water embracing her rather then choking her. The ocean claimed her and answered her wishes- she emerged in a land she did not know, alive and proud and newly devoted.
Come what may, the ocean earned her respect that day, and she will always seek it and pay homage to it. Should politics keep her from the shoreline, she will pine for it and pay homage to what water there does exist, and will always yearn to be able to freely visit it's shores on a regular basis.
