He shall rule with an iron hoof but be a caring king. He shall be no dictator.
Emarde had started off earlier into the winter sky and was practicing his acrobatics. Emarde, now see, he can communicate with Sanslay telepathically and Sanslay can communicate that way with him too. They are a bonded pair. They feel each others pain, sorrow, grief, and so much more. They're almost a conjoined soul without the differences. They're best friends and protectors of each other.
Emarde's orange horns catch the sun and make an odd ray of light across a coming in wave. Sanslay turns his head to watch the 'spectrum' of orange tints. Emarde is as large as a bob cat and reaches about 6hh. And as he comes in to land on Sanslay's hind quarters he speaks 'Sanslay I come.' The bonded dragon slid in carefully and landed with a bump to his partners right hind side. Sharp tallon claws holding on but careful not to break the skin.
His weight was an oddly massive amount to carry around all the time but Sanslay was used to it by now and with all his muscles Emarde was nothing now. As sand grains made crunching sounds from underneath his feet he set off at a slow walk. Emarde peering out over the distance making sure nothing threatened his friend. 'Sanslay where is everyone?' the unicorns head turns around slowly as he continues to walk, "We must build a kingdom and provide shelter. Then we will find them." although he didn't quite answer his dragons question it was close enough to count.
He turned his head back forwards and set off again. Emarde slowly walking Sanslay's back. Bouncing around with Sanslay's ungraceful gait. Emarde built up his fire for days now without letting it out. If he was to use it now there sure would be an amazing fire. And a lethal one at that.

Wind whispered lightly over golden grains of sand, the soft lapping of waves a soothing sound in the air. She had entered these lands just a few sunrises ago, having journeyed across various lands by herself. The various sights, sounds and scents of the wild assailed her nostrils, filling them with familiar, comforting scents as she journeyed even deeper into the vast wilderness. The mare had met a number of horses during her travels, but had never quite deigned to initiate a conversation with any of them. What for? It wasn’t as if she would instantly become fast friends with them. In fact, it was unlikely that she would ever see them again after she left them to their own devices.
Sakura had left the more crowded areas of the land. Slowly, as she journeyed, the number of horses she had met had become lesser and lesser, till she only saw one or two now. She had no real destination, and most of the horses that she had seen here were somewhat wary and distant. Sakura headed towards a taller sand dune, her pelt shimmering and gleaming brightly under the bright sunlight. The smell of the sea was prevailed here, disguising the scent of anything else. Wide, glowing orbs focused on the path in front, carefully picking her way over the rock-strewn ground. Treacherous for hooves, especially in the dark. Quite a letdown if it were to happen, she thought. After surviving everything, how could she die by an accident? Sakura skipped nimbly over the sand, eyes flicking about, keeping watch at all times.
Climbing up, the mare tossed her long tresses, sturdy frame managing the climb upwards with ease. The winds at this beach were not as wild and furious, but Sakura planted her hooves deep into the damp sand, concentrating on the climb to the top.
Tilting her head, Sakura filled her lungs with the clean, fresh scent of the sea and land. There were no sound of approaching hoofbeats, and she felt herself relax, closing her eyes against the breeze, as the wind playfully tugged at her mane.
The sudden sound of approaching hoofbeats soon jolted her out of her calm. Throwing her head up and flattening her ears distrustfully, Sakura’s gaze zeroed in on the stallion journeying her way. And – was that a dragon on his back? Her eyes nearly popped out with shock, as she stood there, frozen, staring in fascination at the supposedly mythical creature.

Emarde was ready to leap from his perch and spit fire but he knew better than to act from first meetings. So instead he peeked out from Sanslay's back to the mare ahead and waited for his bonded to respond.
Instantly Sanslays eyes popped open and he replied sharply but respectfully to his dragon, "Do not worry, dear fellow, friend until she proves otherwise." and so Emarde lept from his back and landed on the ground like a cat. Crawling quickly on all fours towards the palamino mare. Actually his pace was the pace of Sanslays a quickened walk but since he's such a smaller creature he looked as if he was trying to run.
"You tresspass dear child." the tones were warm and some part of them was calling her in. Really he was being as nice as he could be and giving her a warm smile. "Emarde, would you mind watching the skies for me?, or taking a quick hunt?" Sanslay knew that the encounter with the unfamiliar mare might go better if there wasn't such an intimidating creature around them both. So quickly Emarde gave a nod to him and jumped up taking to the air quickly and disappearing from sight over behind the rocks.
Sanslay quickly halted to the mare and gave a curt nod, keeping his horn a safe distance, "I'm Sanslay the leader of this land." he stopped to finish his sentance luckily before Emarde sent him a mental image of a mouse family. Strange for them to be on the beach but atleast his dragon was getting its fill.

Truly, she had never seen anything like it. The young mare watched with an almost childlike fascination in her eyes, as the small dragon leaped off the stallion, running – to her, quite awkwardly. He was obviously a creature of the sky, and it was to her wonder that he would deign to walk on the ground.
The stallion’s words reached her ears, but it took a while for her brain to process them, so caught up was she by the supposed mythical creature. When she did, however, Sakura immediately jumped to attention, focusing her gaze on the nearing horse, lip curled with annoyance. Sparks flashed in her eyes, and Sakura tried – yes, she really did – to hold her tongue, but to no avail.
“I’m no child,” she snapped, tossing her head proudly, her temper rising to the surface as always. She really needed to calm down, before she ended up insulting him too much, and get into even deeper trouble.
“How would I know I was trespassing anyway,” she added rather defensively, stomping a hoof into the sand, glancing away for a moment. “I didn’t hear anything about this territory being claimed.” She paused, eying the stallion with distrust, though rather intrigued by his sharp horn. As far as first impressions went, he wasn’t doing too badly.
She watched out of the corner of her eye, as the dragon jumped up into the sky, flying gracefully away, the majority of her gaze fixed on the stallion. Despite herself and her wary nature, she couldn’t help but feel a little more at ease, due to his warm, inviting tone.
“…sorry,” she muttered, the words a little delayed, as she gracefully leapt down from the dune, standing a safe distance away from the stallion.
“I’m Sakura, leader of none,” she replied, a little wry humour slipping into her words, as she danced a little closer, clearly bursting with curiosity as she scanned the sky.
“What was that?” she finally burst out, unable to control her curiosity. “Was it really a dragon? A real dragon? But it’s so small! Can it breathe fire?” she wondered, flicking her tail and tensing with excitement, before she realized what she was doing.
“Sorry,” she muttered awkwardly, again, the word tasting foreign in her mouth. She really wasn’t much good at this social thing. “I was just curious.”

In return though he stayed calm and spoke to his dragon "Stay close Emarde." and as the dragon finally took off to go chase the mice he spoke back 'As always.' As soon as Emarde was out of sight the mare seemed to relax a bit but still Sanslay answered politely, "I understand, not many know I've claimed this land for my own, but of course your defense is understood."
Then the mare muttered sorry. "You wouldn't have to appologize if you hold your tounge." he said calmy giving her a raised brow and crooked smile. As the mare come down from the sand dune Sanslay stood his ground and refused to move or give any flench. When she started speaking again he gave a flick of his ears to her face. In return to her name he gave a flick of his tail on his hocks. When she started coming closer he narrowed his eyes and studied her frame. Trying to gather as much information as possible. He wasn't against fighting a mare.
But instead she bursted with words. Unable to control her excitement and easily Sanslay shifted his weight to the left side and gave her a sideways smile. Opening his eyes to a rather comfortable position he puffed out a breath and watched as a bit of early, almost invisible, fog swivled around and wriggled through the air. "Emarde is a real dragon Sakura and he can breathe fire." Emarde, even though far away, could still 'hear' the conversation through Sanslay's ears. He then decided to fly above them and spit a few flames into the sky.
The orange and yellow flames added smoke to the sky as soon as he killed the flame and and swooped over them. Landed next to Sanslay and crawling around his hind legs. Sanslay turned his head to greet his dragon but Emarde was off again running towards Sakura happily 'Does she want a present?' he said curiously to Sanslay. If Emarde wanted he could easily speak through his own vocals to Sakura instead of talking telepathically to Sanslay but he didn't. Just instead staring up at Sakura with beady, small, orange eyes.
"No need to appologize." he stated majestically and gave a look to Emarde who was standing at Sakura's front hooves. On all fours, his wings spread out on the sand, face still staring up at Sakura. "Present?" Sanslay asked Emarde questioningly. Did Sakura even know this bonded pair was even having a conversation. 'Yes a present. I can flame the sand and turn the grains to crystal and make her a crystal rock!' he said excitedly. Face still staring up at Sakura daring not to move. Just cocking his head side to side curiously. "He wants to know if you want a crystal?"

The mare pinned her ears back uneasily, shuffling her hooves in embarrassment at the stallion’s calm response to her snippy tone. It was times like these – when she met a polite and respectful stallion – that she really felt the need to stop her fiery temper from flaring so easily. It would be hard, though. Willpower alone would be difficult to change a lifetime of habits. Sakura felt the sea breeze ruffling her mane, and she grasped at that distraction to calm her fraying temper.
Sakura rather felt as though she were a young filly being chastised by her parent, when the stallion gave her that look and spoke with that tone. “Right,” she muttered, glancing awkwardly away out to see. “Sorry. Again. It was an instinctive reaction. I don’t get to talk to others much.” The palomino mare observed as Sanslay stared at her with calculation in his eyes, obviously trying to determine if she was a threat. Sakura halted immediately in her tracks, relaxing her muscles and trying to show that she was not a threat. She might have a hard time holding her temper, but she was in no way stupid to pick a fight with someone bigger and stronger than her.
“That’s amazing,” she breathed, awestruck, as she tipped her head up and watched the dragon breathe a jet of fire in the air. Sakura thought that it was the most beautiful thing she’d ever seen. Her eyes never left the dragon, as it circled down and ran towards the mare. She lowered her head, snorting gently, a friendly greeting from one creature to another. She met Emarde’s orange eyes, and Sakura’s mouth curved up to form a genuine smile, eyes twinkling.
“Hello,” she said softly, flicking her tail. “It’s a pleasure to meet you.” She glanced up at Sanslay’s words, smiling at him in thanks, flicking her ears. Warily, she moved her muzzle closer to the dragon, blowing playfully at the dragon, laughing a little.
“He?” Sakura asked, surprised as she looked at Sanslay. “You can speak you him? Telepathically? That’s awesome,” she said enthusiastically. “And, um…” she looked down at the dragon, who seemed very excited. “Sure,” Sakura smiled, tossing her mane. “I’d love one, thank you.”
Then, she turned her attention to the stallion, raising her head up to meet his. “We seem to have gotten off on the wrong foot,” Sakura said, smiling wryly and somewhat apologetically. “I hope you can forgive me for my outburst. You have just settled here, yes?” she queried, uncomfortable, but trying to get to know this stallion better.

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=cellSpacing,0,true][atrb=cellPadding,0,true][atrb=width,500,true] | [atrb=background,http://i42.tinypic.com/2378de.png,true] The mare suceeded in letting Sanslay know she was of no threat and so his over all features relaxed into his normal self. He was finally comfortable with the conversation and atlast he found someone to talk to other than Emarde. Quickly though as soon as his dragon had let off fire in the sky he watched as Sukura stared upwards curiously. The bewilderment on her face had him smiling. Although he knew she was excited about it in someway. "On special occasions its astonishing." he said softly. It was quiet as he wasn't exactly for sure what he was talking about. Maybe he was just jabbering on to make the conversation never end? Or he was just simply speaking his mind.
Sanslay continued to watch Sakura's every movement. Choosing not to disturb her playful moment with Emarde. It was nice to see Emarde respond so quickly to such a new person. Usually he'd only speak with Sanslay and stay near him. Apparently he trusted this mare so Sanslay did also. "Telepathically yes. He can speak outloud too but he often chooses not to." Emarde was one to talk to Sanslay and no other. Although today the dragon was in the mood to use his vocals so when Sakura agreed to have a crystal Emarde spoke softly, his tones oddly sharp and boyish, 'Very well. I'm Emarde.' and then he scurried away to heat up some sand.
As the flames came from his mouths the sands quickly reacted and started crystalizing fast. "Emarde is still young." he said as he watched his bonded out of the corner of his left eye. Soon the mare was speaking up again and Sanslay put his full attention back on her. "Do you think she's worthy of living with us?" he asked his dragon. In return Emarde said quickly as he was focusing on making his shape. 'Yes!' and then he hushed. Orange eyes watching his creation. A flame here, a flame there, and then some claws to distort the crystal to the shape he wanted. "Your quite forgiven." he said with a nod of his head and large smile. "Actually Emarde and I haven't been here long so yes we've just recently settled here." Sanslay shuffled his feet around and started walking closer to the mare. He stopped next to her face and turned his body around so it faced straight towards the ocean. "Would you like to live here? I can offer you the protection to the best of my capabilities. I can also assure you Emarde will keep an eye out for intruders."
Emarde was soon finishing up his product. He sat down like a dog and stared down as it cooled. Head cocked sideways. Blowing cold air out. As soon as the crystal dried he grabbed it in a paw and then jumped up. Taking to the skies and stopping right above Sanslay and circling downwards. Landing lightly on Sanslay's back and grabbing his hind legs on Sanslay's withers while he reached over and put the 'bead' in Sakura's hair. Wrapping about 7 strands of hair around it and then spitting just a tiny flame out to melt the bead onto the hairs and give her a crystal bead. It was hairs back towards her withers. "Do you like it?" Emarde said. Telepathically Sanslay cut off his question, "What if she didn't want it in her hair?" sharply Emarde spit out 'Don't hate on my dreams.' and then made a mental laugh that disturbed Sanslay abit. The dun stallion raised a brow to his bonded as the dragon leaned back over and regained his balance on the haunches of his 'father'.

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=cellSpacing,0,true][atrb=cellPadding,0,true][atrb=width,500,true] | [atrb=background,http://i40.tinypic.com/2q3u1x4.png,true] Sakura had not felt this at ease with other horses in years. Typically, when she met up with others, there was a standard procedure that was followed. First would be the trading of insults. Then would be the increasingly heated arguments. Lastly, violence in some form would occur, with one or more equines injured.
One could argue that Sakura could be forgiven for expecting the conversation with Sanslay to end up the same way. Only, it didn’t – a fact the young mare was still marveling at. The palomino fae stood calmly on the beach, facing Sanslay, the wild, natural sounds of the sea and wildlife soothing and lulling her. The beaches, after all, had always been one of her favourite places to reside in.
Her thoughtful gaze traveled back to Sanslay, a smile slipping on her face at his words. ”It is,” she agreed, holding his gaze, eyes sparkling with wonder and joy. ”I’ve never, ever seen anything quite like it.”
Sakura had never really gotten close to anyone in the four years of her life, apart from her dam. It was easier that way… The loss of friendship and the sting of betrayal were so much more muted when you viewed others as mere acquaintances. Sakura had been hurt deeply, and she had quickly withdrawn, building up sky-high, granite-strong barriers of defense around her heart with sharp words and a snarky tone.
This way was, indeed, easier. But it was lonely.
Somehow, Sanslay and his dragon had found a way to lower her defenses without even trying. She had no idea if that was good or bad.
The mare shook that thought aside like a pesky fly, returning her attention to Sanslay as he spoke. “That’s amazing,” she breathed, eyes licking between the two. “Both of you have something very special,” she murmured, noticing how close the two creatures seemed to be, despite their apparent opposites. A pang of wistful longing surged within her, so sharp that it physically hurt. Sakura sucked in a shocked breath, before releasing it with a weary sigh.
It was then that the black dragon decided to speak up, startling and humbling the mare with his words. “I’m truly honoured to meet you,” she murmured softly in reply, bowing her head, before the dragon hopped away to make her a present.
Even though the crystal-making process was no doubt fascinating, Sakura found her gaze drawn once more to the stallion in front of her. “He is?” she queried, surprised. “But he seems so… mature! How big will he grow?”
Sakura tilted her head at the acceptance of her apology, a relieved smile crossing her face, trying to ignore the pleased fluttering in her belly. Had she made a friend, then? Immediately, she shook her head, scowling and annoyed at herself. She did not need, nor did she want friends. Distance, remember?
However, it seemed as though this was to be a day of surprises for her. “I-er,” she stammered, wariness flooding back into her posture. Was this all a trap? Had he been only feigning kindness? Immediately, she shook her head, rejecting that notion. She did not believe it.
Sakura dug deeper into the mess of feelings within her, trying to sort out what she wanted. She was shocked, when she found that she… actually did want to stay. Very much. She really enjoyed Sanslay’s companionship, and Emarde’s sweet and amusing antics. “I… Are there any conditions? Rules? Will I be free to roam the lands outside the territory still?” she asked hesitantly, cutting a glance at the stallion. “Don’t get me wrong; I do want to live here. It’s just that…” she trailed off, unable to fully articulate her feelings. She just didn’t want to feel trapped again.
Thankfully, Emarde’s presence provided a pleasant distraction. Turning her head and watching with both amusement and genuine joy, Sakura found herself strangely touched by the gesture. She smiled affectionately at the young dragon, leaning forward tentatively to nuzzle him in thanks, inadvertently brushing Sanslay’s withers by accident. Embarrassed, she quickly pulled away.
“I love it,” she whispered to Emarde’s question, voice husky with unshed tears. She herself didn’t understand why she was so affected by this small gesture. Taking a deep breath, Sakura said somewhat mischievously, directing her comment to both Sanslay and Emarde, “So, is this a form of herd identification? Join the herd, get a crystal?” Her voice held a gently teasing note, one she absently realized she had not used in years. Her brown eyes were warming; dancing, and she herself felt strangely liberated.
Sakura suddenly froze, then, realizing what she had just said. Sure, she had perhaps let slip that she wanted to join the herd, but she had wanted to think it over a little more. She cleared her throat nervously, darting a shy, uncertain smile in their direction.
(OOC: Omg, my muse made a comeback! *dances* I love the tables, btw! Thanks again xD And I love Emarde too! He’s too adorable! *snuggles*

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=cellSpacing,0,true][atrb=cellPadding,0,true][atrb=width,500,true] | [atrb=background,http://i42.tinypic.com/2378de.png,true] Sakura was correct- they did have something special- and she understood it. The years that Sanslay had lived offered such terrible things to his soul as his child hood was led by war fare and racism. Now that he had bonded with a dragon and ran far from his home, able to dodge his fathers assassins, he was meeting others and opening up. Being something he never was. Sakura was the first being he'd seen in a while that actually fulfilled in having a decent conversation with besides his bonded. Giving her a higher spot in Sanslay's heart. Inside he knew she'd make a wonderful mare to the herd and very close friend. Having someone so close also brought the thought of betrayal. If she betrayed him in time or even now his heart would not learn to trust again. Betrayal is a terrible thing and all he hoped was that those he came to know did not incave him in such terrible things.
When she recognized Emarde before he scurried off the little dragon gave her another large fang showing smile. How big will the dragon grow? Only time would tell but as far as knowledge went with dragons, Emarde, was the biggest his bonding kind could get. "From what I know he's full grown. Although theres chances he'll get bigger and more skilled with his fire." the dun stallion said. Inclining his head slightly. Horn pointing straight out and away from Sakura.
It was moments later after his question of residency here was answered with a stammering unsure tone. He turned his face to look into her eyes. "Take your time on deciding such important manors, you don't want to regret it later on and let others down." he said giving her a slight smile. Waiting for her to speak again. He knew the words were coming and he couldn't wait to reply. His first companion of his kind, his first friend of his kind in so long, and his first member to the new era of his reign. He waited to answer her as she was distracted by Emarde. He continued on carefully choosing his words with pure confidence and pride "You are free to do as you wish. I have two rules that are very simple...." he trailed off as Emarde landed on him "You respect my kingship, I'll respect you and treat you as you treat myself. And... You respect the land you live and walk on, this land will offer you protection as well as myself." he was sure she'd be okay with that. Right? After all many other stallions wouldn't allow her to travel at all. They wouldn't allow her to live her own life. When Sanslay allowed her to do whatever she wished. All that she wished.
As Sakura's head went back to greet Emarde, he heated up the glass, and then gave a welcoming pur. But as she scrapped the withers of Sanslay the stallion grumbled and huffed gently. He figured she was showing affections of friendship so he turned his head around to nibble at her hair. She was pulling away from his withers by now and he barely managed to nibble a hair or two. 'You flirt!' Emarde giggled to Sanslay, "Flirt? I was merely answering her call of affectionism.", 'Yeah. Okay!' the dragon spat sarcastically.
Her whisper to Emarde was heard by the dragons tiny ears and he continued to pur again and affectionatley rub his head to her shoulder. At the very time he continued to back up and walk to Sanslay's hind quarters. "Look who's the flirt now!" -Sanslay. 'Whatever! I was just answering her call of affectionism ha!' the serpent repeated his bonded's own words in defense. They happily quarreled in their minds but no they never fought.
"Nah. That crystal was simply a gift from Emarde. He likes you, not something normally coming from him." the unicorn spoke gently. But in return he spat out quickly and teasingly in return to her tone "Feel special!" he snickered lightly and took his tail with a flick to the side. Aiming to flick it against Sakura playfully, around her hocks or left side somewhere. It was nice to have a decent, quick, friendship. He didn't consider her apart of his heard until she said the words herself. For now she was free to roam his lands for a while or go ahead and join today. He didn't want to push her into such a large decision. After all he wanted her to realize how good it was. How nice he was compared to most the others. It was a special offer that she wouldn't recieve again, most likely.

The waves and sandy beaches seemed to fit a perfectly shaped hole in her heart, filling it with contentment and for once, peace. What other wonders did this place hold for her? A dragon, a kind stallion, peace in God knew how long… What more could there be? What more could she need?
“Full grown?” she echoed, grinning teasingly at Emarde. “I’d thought dragons grew to be as big as the trees! Are there any other dragons? And dragonesses which have caught your fancy?” she asked with a smiling drawl, winking playfully at the small creature. “Emarde sure looks very proficient with his fire. Lucky your land borders part of the sea – if he accidentally incinerates anyone by accident, they’ll be able to put out the fire quickly,” she laughed, chuckling gently.
She breathed a sigh of relief, feeling the knot of tension that was wound tightly in her chest be released, and she turned to Sanslay, quirking a thankful smile. She had grown to love the land. And Emarde. And Sanslay himself. If she could not adhere to his rules… If she found that she had to leave, she would have been devastated. Her eyes glittered, and the mare smiled a little to herself, her decision already made soon after he had given his conditions. Still, she wanted to wait to tell him, for despite wanting to stay, the thought of doing so scared her. Badly. At least, she comforted herself, I would not ever be trapped in this land. I’ll be free to roam.
It was a good deal. Better than good, in fact. The best she offer she could have received. Protection in this land, plus the freedom to roam wherever her whims might take her. Again, what more could she need?
As Sakura withdrew her nuzzling Emarde, she jumped slightly as the stallion nibbled a little on her mane, giving him a shy smile, while her ears flicked awkwardly. The first non-violent touch in… she didn’t even know how long! It made her smile again, as she watched both Sanslay and his dragon’s expressions zone out a little, laughing at their silent communication. How useful it was! A touch startled her slightly, and the mare looked down to see the scaly head of the small dragon rub against her shoulder. Sakura let out a low nicker, laughing at the indignant expression of his face from whatever conversation the two were having.
Again, her heart swelled with gratefulness, as she grinned at both Emarde and Sanslay. “Thank you, Emarde,” she said honestly, genuinely. “I’ll always treasure it. And I do!” she responded laughingly to Sanslay. “Can you imagine the sight? A herd of horses with beads in their hair? We’d be the envy of all, for sure,” she laughed, looking Sanslay in the eye, telling him that she’d agreed to join his herd.
Smirking as she felt Sanslay’s tail flick her hocks, Sakura playfully pinned her ears, her smile stretching wide as she tossed her head. She nipped the stallion gently on his flank, springing forward to splash among the glittering waves. “Catch me if you can?” she called back, laughter clear in her voice, happiness evident in her eyes.
She splashed among the clear waters, scenting the salty breeze as she playfully turned to splash water at Sanslay, squeaking and darting out onto land quickly after that, hoping she’d be fast enough to dodge the sure-coming jet of water her way.

In Emarde's case he'll reach wolf size." he said being a smartass. He always just had to know everything. As of right now though the dragon was about the size of a bob cat. Still large enough to inflinct damage using his self without just using fire. "I'm sure it wouldn't be by accident." he said mechanically. All one smooth sarcastic tone. Ending with a deep chuckle.
From his touch though Sakura jumped a bit. His ears stayed forward and his eyes softened to show no harm. To be honest he felt a part of his heart long to steal away hers. She was so spirity and fiery. Emarde could feel such affections purr around in Sanslay's mind. The dragon reacted sharply with a pinch of his claws. 'Not so soon. Love at first meet isn't real! it was true. Everyone Sanslay had ever come to know or love ran away like scarred children. Leaving a giant torn hole in his heart to the side of the gaping gash his childhood had. Each word Sakura said was drowned out by Sanslay's obvious attention to her features and soul. He didn't answer her but stayed silent and watched.
Each loving feeling Sanslay had for Sakura he tried deeply to shove aside with Emarde's companionship. Emarde was all he needed. End!
The scaly dragons head lifted quickly as the mare jumped into action. Nipping at him and smiling sweetly. Sanslay stood there. Shocked for a moment. The change in moods so sudden. 'What are you waiting for?! Go!.... Idiot...' Emarde trailed off then sprung from the duns back. Leaping high into the air and then rising into the skies. Watching them both from above. At such a playful time Sanslay would need someone on the look out for danger. So Emarde went. Guarding them both from the skies.
The unicorns hooves dug into the sand as his haunches lurched him forwards. Lunging after her. Ready to fill up a cup of immaturity. No not immaturity. Having a good time. It wasn't wrong for such a high ranked someone to have a little fun. The stallion quickly slammed on the brakes as a wave of water hit his face. Obscuring his view giving the mare time to dodge his oncoming splashes from skidding hooves by the lapping water. As soon as the water settled and he blinked his eyes a few times he turned sharply. Seeing her still running by his side. He picked up a hoof and sent water splashing her way.
Hoping the spray would atleast shower her on the haunches. If not that even a few droplets.
The muscled quarter horse stallion puffed and huffed. In a small chuckle. He inclined his head and shook it in a fashion that resemble no. "That wasn't a splash! This is!" hoping his words stopped her dead in her tracks. Putting his butt towards her the stallion made a powerful buck. Slashing out his legs. He could feel the water spray outwards. It was an enormous splash. Close to being a wave but much thinner. As he landed he raised his neck to move his nostrils from any water threating to have him snorting shamefully.
He chuckled again waiting for her to pick at him for 'hopefully' showering her good. Turning around slowly. There was a flash of fire in the sky and Emarde was doing some odd acrobatic. The fashion was weird and Sanslay hadn't seen it before. So the stallion looked up.
Emarde's fire quickly turned to a large smoke heart. The smoke stayed in position and ceased to fade away. The serpent was laughing hard in his mind. "Emarde!" the stallion looked back down to Sakura bashfully. Almost as if he was embarrassed but somewhere in those white eyes was a tint of 'thats so very true'. 'What. I got to get a kick every now and then!' even though Emarde was against Sanslay having a lover so soon, embarassing the stallion was something he'd put that thought away for. "Payback's a bitch!" Sanslay mused silently, sarcastically, and crudely.

She loved Sanslay’s dry sense of humour; delighted in it, as the pair bantered back and forth, tossing words carelessly between each other – but gently, this time. These words would not hurt nor bite the other. Instead, they lightened the atmosphere, gave the two equines a tense of understanding between them. Snorting lowly in amusement, Sakura smirked at Sanslay. “Of course not,” she agreed, eyes twinkling. “Emarde has such fine aim. I’m quite certain he couldn’t miss even if he tried to.” She laughed too, her melodic laughter mingling with Sanslay’s deep chuckle, and the palomino mare could have sworn that she felt the air around them shimmer at the sound of it.
Despite pulling back from Sanslay’s affectionate tugging of her mane, Sakura did not feel threatened or cornered. In fact, she felt… flustered. In a good way. In a way she’d felt once before, a long time ago. Her mind recoiled away from the memory, locking it up safely in a box right at the back of her memories. She exhaled shakily, a small, involuntary smile touching her lips once more as she gazed upon the dun unicorn. There was no denying the affection she felt for him, as a friend, first and foremost. But something else had taken root… Something stronger, fiercer and scarier than mere affection. Attraction.
But she’d never asked for it! Sakura wanted to scream with frustration, to stomp her hoof and vent her anger like a petulant child. Everyone knew that love could both grow and destroy. If she really… loved (oh, how hard it was to say that word!) Sanslay, there would be no chance of him requiting the feeling, would there? Or if they had a falling out, how would their friendship even be repaired? She didn’t think she could bear it if he were to withdraw his now extended hand of friendship.
Out of the corner of her eye, Sakura watched as Sanslay came charging after her, his razor-sharp horn gleaming in the bright sunlight. She saw a black figure swoop into the air gracefully, dancing and doing various sets of aerobatics in the air. It was an amazing sight indeed, especially when Emarde let loose a long jet of fire into the air. Squealing with laughter as Sanslay chased after her, she raced along the water’s edge, their flying hooves churning the seawater into froth, spinning glittery drops into the sun-kissed air.
After splashing water at him, Sakura spun around and sped away. She laughed, darting a challenging glance at the stallion, pushing herself even faster, squealing again as a wave of water splashed onto her haunches, darkening her pelt. She swerved sharply to the side, fleeing the waves of water she was sure would follow.
At his next words, Sakura slowed, turning backwards curiously – only to receive a wave of water right at her face! Gasping and choking, she reared backwards, blinking water out of her eyes as she snorted painfully with laughter.
“Oh yeah? Even I could do better than that!”she cried, laughing so hard her ribs hurt. Trotting back gaily to him, Sakura tossed her mane, giving him a playful nudge with shining brown eyes. “Shame on you!” she scolded playfully. “`Attacking a poor, defenseless mare!” she shook her head mock-disappointedly.
Turning her head to look where Sanslay was gazing, she gaped unabashedly as Emarde flipped in the air and twisted into all sorts of fantastic shapes, before loosing a rippling jet of fire into the air.
Then, suddenly – Sakura squeaked in shock, feeling extremely uncomfortable, shifting uneasily in the water as she looked intently into the water, coughing awkwardly. She darted a shy glance at Sanslay, pinning her ears and glaring up at the laughing Emarde, baring her teeth furiously. “Annoying, meddling, unbelievable-“ she muttered half-heartedly, quickly splashing out of the water and onto dry land.
“Is he always like this?” she called to Sanslay, her voice a little high-pitched, levitating a small rock and threw it up at Emarde playfully, purposefully missing him.

His laugh booming with sarcasticness. That was truly insane. She prooved earlier to be so fiesty and defense filled, such sayings untrue. Giving her a raise of his head and a quick smoulder to flatter her with his high prince stance. He pearly white teeth shining in the sun. Head watching hers.
Everything quickly changed though when she caught what Emarde flammed to the sky. Sanslay was embarassed and the mare utterly pissed. 'Why is she mumbling?' the dragon asked curiously, "The heart. I guess she didn't like it either..?" Sanslay wasn't mad anymore rather amused. Only sad that the mare took it so deeply. "He was only playing around. I hope you didn't finding it offending." the great stallion said gently to the mare on land. As he stood ther ankle deep in salt water. Defending his brother, his best friend, his bonded.
As the mare picked up a rock and threw it at Emarde she missed. Emarde figured she purposely threw it meaning to hit him so the dragon screetched in annoyance. The screetch was high pitch and hurt Sanslay's ears. Even over the roar of waves and terrible cry of sea gulls the screetch was loud, almost as if it was right in your ear. "Calm down brother, she was playing, it'll be alright." Furiously Emarde flew up and into the clouds. Disappearing.
"Sorry, always like what?, playing around?, yes." he spoke diplomatically. He was trying so hard to defend his dragon but be nice to the mare he affectionated. It was like a war. If he was rude to her she'd dislike him and leave. If he didn't fend for Emarde the dragon and he would have conflict. And being burnt to a crisp by his one and only true friend sounded terrible. Even though Emarde wouldn't do such, Sanslay figured to be safe than sorry.

She smirked at him, flicking her tail sassily, as she tossed her head. Sakura snorted a gasping laugh, nudging Sanslay playfully in the side, before tilting her head, surveying the stallion, silhouetted against the burning sun. After a moment, she spun around, galloping through the waters and towards the sandy beach.
It was then that Emarde decided to broadcast the smoky heart over the land. And then, she became furious. And she didn’t even know why she was so affected by it. Perhaps, it was because it struck a chord in her, too close to the truth for her liking. Perhaps it was because she was afraid that Emarde had somehow managed to read her heart, and had broadcasted it to the world to see. Not the world. Sanslay. But his opinion was all that mattered, was it not?
She exhaled. She wasn’t angry at Emarde – more like furiously and amazingly embarrassed. She tossed a grin at Sanslay, nodding to him. “I see… No, it’s fine,” she chuckled, the swirling emotions, just as quickly, were drained away.
Sakura didn’t know what had possessed her to throw the rock at Emarde. Perhaps she was feeling strains of companionship and friendship she had not felt since childhood. And it was what they had always done, in the herd. They used her powers, played with each other. Had mock battles. Pretended to fight, to be angry when they were not.
When she heard Emarde’s furious screech, she knew she had done the wrong thing. At first, she gaped stupidly, before turning and rounding on Sanslay, completely ignoring his words, a pang of something shooting straight into her heart, just as the dragon’s figure darted away into the clouds.
“What was it? Did he take offense? I’m so sorry,” she cried, pinning her ears in agitation, her eyes searching the skies for the dragon. “I didn’t mean it! I was just playing – Tell him I didn’t mean to hurt him. I didn’t know he’d react so violently,” she whispered, her eyes finally meeting the stallion’s, begging him to forgive her.
All she could hope for now was that he could forgive her – that they would both forgive her.

He rolled his eyes in annoyance to Emarde's childish acts and then flicked his head to Sakura's view. Walking slightly over too her with light soft steps. When he made it too her side he tried taking his muzzle and touched it to her cheek. Softly before breathing gently into her ear "He's fine, still a child, and when a child.. childish." He swung his body gently to sidle up beside her and watch the waves go by. Turning his head around to hook his neck over hers and pull her closer to comfort her. He felt terrible for the serpents behavior.
Flicking his tail gently against her he waited for her to lean in on him so he could catch her. There were undeniable feelings in place to the stallion. He wasn't about to shove them away and ignore something that could become love.
